Currently Reading –
We started ‘Begin, End, Begin: A #LoveOzYA Anthology’ yesterday. We are about 100 pages in and we are just loving these Australian authors short stories!
This book is written from the points of view of many Australian authors! The authors aim is to show and express just how much there is to love about Aussie YA!
Recently Finished –
We recently finished ‘The Hate U Give’ by Angie Thomas a couple of days ago. We weren’t really sure what to expect with this book but it was absolutely incredible!
This book follows Starr, a sixteen-year-old girl who lives in two worlds: a poor neighborhood where she grew up and her posh high school. This restless balance is ruined when Starr is the witness to a devastating shooting of her best friend, Khalil who was unarmed.
This book has such an important message! We definitely recommend this powerful novel. We will post our review tomorrow, Stay tuned!
Reading Next –
We are thinking that it’s about time we finally picked up ‘Laurinda’ by Alice Pung. The author has also written a short story in ‘Begin, End, Begin’ which we can’t wait to read!
This story is focused on an exclusive school for girls ‘Laurinda’. Lucy Lam, a scholarship girl with sharp eyes is an onlooker to ‘The Cabinet’, a triangle of girls who you could say are manipulative over students as well as teachers within the school. This book is often described as a book of ‘finding ones identity’.
